Kosta Giitsidis is a 20-year-old emerging artist living and working in Sydney’s Inner West. His practice spans both studio-based oil painting and large-scale mural work, reflecting a deep interest in presence, identity and place. Working primarily in oil, Kosta creates figurative paintings that explore the complexity of lived experience through intimate portraiture.
Kosta is drawn to the quiet power of observation, the way posture, gesture and environment reveal layered narratives. Alongside his figurative work, he frequently paints local flora and is particularly interested in the interplay of shadow and light, using contrast and atmosphere to evoke emotional depth. Beyond the studio, Kosta produces large-scale murals using spray paint, engaging directly with public space and community.
His dual practice, from detailed oil paintings to expansive street works allows him to move between personal introspection and shared urban experience, grounding his work in both people and place.
